How long have you been in business? Although newly established in 2010, you will find Greg to be well-seasoned and knowledgeable about East Texas duck/dove hunting. He has been hunting the area since 1990.
What is the price of a hunt? A guided duck hunt cost is $200.00 per day, per person. Duck hunts will consist of no more than two hunters. A guided dove hunt cost is $100 per person, per day. Dove hunts will consist of no more than six hunters.
When is the best time to come? We start getting good duck numbers as early as November. November and December dates usually provide for more species of ducks, including mallards, pintail, gadwall, green wing teal and widgeon. January usually provides red heads and mallards. Dove seems to be best the first week and after every cold front
Do you hunt everyday of season? By limiting the number of days we hunt each week, it allows the ducks/dove time to get comfortable with their surroundings and they stay in our area longer. This year we are planning on hunting Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays with the exception of each of the opening weeks, when we will hunt all seven days.
Do you hunt all day? Ducks - With the exception of unusual or extreme circumstances, we will hunt as late as 12:00 p.m. By leaving at noon, it allows for the ducks to get back in the hunting location. Dove - we begin at sunrise. depending on the birds, we may hunt as late as sunset
What about lodging? Lodging is available in some nearby cities such as Rockwall, Royse City and Greenville.
Do you have blinds at all the hunting locations? During duck season, Depending on lake levels, we may hunt from a camoflagued boat. Other times we hide beside the natural cover of a tree. As for the dove, we sit in the field in dove chairs.
How much walking is involved? For duck, we use an aluminum boat to get you to the hunting locations on the lakes. For Dove, we are able to drive to the fields and walk-in about 200 yards.
What is the advantage of using a guide? Using a guide allows you to hunt with someone who is knowledgeable about the area and how the ducks/dove work the areas. A guide also has all the decoys needed to help insure a quality hunt without having to bring your own gear.
When is the Texas Duck Season? Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission will set the Texas Duck Season in September. Normally our season opens the first weekend of November and runs through the last weekend of January with a couple of splits/breaks in between.
When is the Texas Dove Season? Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission will set the Texas Dove Season by July. Normally our season opens September 1st and runs through the month. Last year Dove season ended the 30th of October.
What is your dog policy? We do use a retriever and welcome you to bring your dog. We request notification at the time of booking if you are planning to bring your own dog.
Do you guarantee ducks/dove? No, all birds we hunt are wild, thus Mother Nature and your shooting ability play important roles in hunting. However, we do everything within our legal rights and ability to provide you with the opportunity to bag your birds and build memories.
Who will need a license? Anyone 16 years old or older will need a Texas hunting license, state and federal duck stamps.
